Parking Examples at Castlepoint

Parking enforcement rules and guidance

Group Nexus the car parking management company issues tickets for overstaying the 4-hour rule, parking outside of a bay, parking in a disabled bay without displaying a valid badge and parking out of the centre’s opening hours. To help you enjoy a smooth and stress-free visit to Castlepoint, we’d like to remind you of some important parking guidelines. These are in place to ensure fair use of the car park and to prevent unnecessary Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).

Customers should park within a marked bay; this includes motorcyclists.

Out of Bay Parking – One Third Rule
If a vehicle is parked slightly off-centre due to the position of other cars, we apply the ‘one third rule’. A charge will only be issued if the vehicle crosses significantly into the next bay (the middle third of the car).

Unmarked Areas
These unmarked areas at the end of bays or between bays must not be used for full parking. However, if you are parked in an end bay, a small overhang into these zones is permitted. A PCN will only be issued if the vehicle is fully within these unmarked areas.

Obstruction Guidance
A vehicle may be issued a fine if it is the cause of an obstruction – for example, blocking an entrance where no other vehicle could reasonably enter or exit.

Disabled Bay Considerations
Fines will be issued if a vehicle parked out of a disabled bay causes reduced access to neighbouring bays. If parked at the end of a row without affecting access, no charge will be applied.

See below for an example when a PCN would be issued.

Additionally, fines will be issued if a disabled badge isn’t clearly displayed when parking in a disabled bay or if the disabled badge is out of date.

There are over 200 signs located in the car park. More information can be found on the signs around the car park.

These guidelines are in place to maintain fairness and clarity for all visitors. We encourage you to park thoughtfully and considerately to avoid any issues.

Thank you for helping us keep Castlepoint safe and accessible for everyone.
